Did you know that approximately 62 Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer every day? Or that one in every 9 women is expected to develop breast cancer in their lifetime? Or that In 2012, there will be an estimated 22,700 more Canadian women diagnosed with breast cancer?
Trumping lung and colorectal cancer, breast cancer continues to be the most common cancer in Canadian women today. Breast cancer is also the second leading cause of cancer deaths in Canadian women.
The good news? We don’t have to let this be our truth. In fact, it is one of my many goals and missions to educate, empower and excite women to start taking control of their breast health NOW.
It doesn’t matter how old you are, what you do or where you come from, it is never too late to start caring for your breasts. Being proactive is one of the best things you can do for yourself in order to prevent this nasty disease.
I know we all know someone who has had their life taken by breast cancer. This may make it seem unfair, frustrating, sad and hopeless at times for many of us. But what this also brings is a fight to beat cancer. When I hear these stories of someone I know or a friend of a friend who has been diagnosed, it fuels my fire to reach out to as many women as possible to bring more education and more awareness.
So please, I beg you, get yourself some education! Start today by reading and researching how you can be proactive, preventative and what you can do to reduce your risk for breast cancer. *Hint: You will find loads of tips and tools right here on this blog or on my website: http://www.jacquierobertson.ca/
